Conceived as a nuanced domestic composition, Veil Residence explores the balance between shared living and progressive independence through a series of layered spatial thresholds. Designed for a family in evolution, the house is organized vertically, allowing each generation to inhabit the home with both connection and autonomy.
At ground level, the villa opens generously to its surroundings. The primary living and dining areas extend fluidly toward both the front and rear gardens, establishing a continuous relationship with the landscape. A side-positioned swimming pool completes this horizontal openness, offering a quieter edge where interior life dissolves into water, greenery, and filtered light.
The first floor introduces a more intimate domestic scale, dedicated to the parents and their daughter. While anchored by the master suite, the layout anticipates future independence, allowing the daughter’s quarters to evolve into a self-contained domain—discreetly connected yet capable of separation over time.
Above, the second floor is conceived as a balanced duality, hosting the two sons in mirrored yet individualized arrangements. Each space reflects distinct preferences while maintaining an underlying architectural coherence, ensuring both identity and unity within the same framework.
The basement consolidates the operational and shared service functions of the house, while also accommodating a multipurpose diwaniya—a social anchor that extends the home’s hospitality beyond the private realm. At roof level, a lounge crowns the composition, offering an elevated retreat where the family reconnects in a more open, informal setting.
Formally, the villa is defined by a continuous, sculpted geometry—softened edges and layered volumes that wrap around the program like a protective envelope. Vertical slatted screens act as the architectural “veil,” filtering light, mediating privacy, and introducing depth to the façades. These elements respond to the distinct aspirations of both brothers—one favoring openness and transparency, the other seeking enclosure and control—synthesized into a unified language that reads as a single, cohesive expression.
Materially, the project is grounded in a restrained palette of light stone, warm metallic tones, and transparent glazing. The interplay between solid and permeable surfaces reinforces the concept of veiling—revealing life within through calibrated glimpses while maintaining a composed exterior presence.
Veil Residence is ultimately an architecture of anticipation—one that accommodates change over time while preserving a strong, enduring identity.
